Shipping & Returns

For orders shipped within the United States, all subscriptions and single copies of Esopus are sent by default via USPS Media Mail. Orders are generally processed within 24 hours; please allow up to two weeks for delivery.

All international orders are shipped by USPS First Class Mail® International or, if the total weight of your package is over 4 lbs., by USPS Priority Mail® International. These rates are automatically calculated based on the shipping address you provide and will be added to your subtotal (or in the case of subscriptions, reflected in your subscription price). Please allow approximately one week for delivery.

Single copies of Esopus are packaged in a custom-sized cardboard mailer to prevent damage. Please be aware that, depending on the size of your mailbox and your local mail delivery practices, you may receive a slip to pick up your package at your local post office. Issues that are not picked up promptly are returned to us as “Unclaimed.” Please see the “Returns” section below for more information. 

We will notify you by email if your issue has been returned by the post office. We will gladly: 1) Hold the copy in our NYC office for two months in case you are able to collect it, or 2) Resend the issue in return for a small shipping reimbursement (approximately $3.50).

Because, as a non-profit, we sell Esopus for substantially less than the cost of production, postage costs prohibit us from automatically resending unclaimed issues or those returned because of outdated or incorrect addresses (unless, of course, the mistake was ours).
